The Maine Lighthouse Collection Series by award-winning graphic artist Alan Claude is a dramatic and bold interpretation of Maine lighthouses and their surrounding environments. With colorful contrasting imagery, dimensional light and shadow, these classic travel posters illustrations bring forward the strength and spirit of each Maine lighthouse.

Influenced by American realist painter Edward Hopper and European travel posters of the 1920’s, Alan Claude's challenge was to create an original series with a certain freshness of expression. Throughout the 20th century only a handful of lighthouse travel posters were ever made. "I wanted to reflect in this series the way I felt about lighthouses.
" Working in various mediums including pen & ink, photography, and digital illustration, the Maine Lighthouse Collection Series is a way to honor these national historical treasures. In 2004 Alan Claude and his fiancee Erin exchanged vows at Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde, Maine. This wonderful experience and consequential visits to other lighthouses on the beautiful Maine coast inspired Alan to create the Maine Lighthouse Collection Series. “I look for the inherent drama in things as in the light and shadows that magnify or reduce a feature or shape.”
